These are capybaras. They are the largest of all rodents. Their average weight is 100 lbs. They are good swimmers and they can sleep under the water. They even mate under water.
Omigosh! Your pics are much more clearer than those in the wikipedia link, great job! The link says that they can also be pets and considering their relaxed, surrendered post, I am wondering where you found them...
... but these animals are so cute, so much a part of nature, they keep our environment clean by eating up the wastes... but the politicians literally live off others... just wondering
People may think they are cute but I know they are a nuisance. It is a little difficult to judge the size of these raths from this image so can't say the rats around my home are bigger or smaller than these. One thing is that they are huge and are not scared of anyone including cats, dogs and humans. They were responsible for the plague in Gujrat some 10-12 years ago.
